Richard "RJ" Torres
Attorney at Law

Richard Torres

Mr. Richard “RJ” Torres was inspired to follow in his sister's footsteps and be a legal advocate and litigator for those in need. While playing baseball for the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, RJ earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Upon graduating from UIW, RJ went on to further his education at the Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law. During his time in law school, RJ interned at a law firm in Houston and was an active member of the Hispanic Law Student Association at TSU and graduated early.

Upon graduation from TSU, RJ returned to Corpus Christi, Texas, and partnered up with his sister. The dream of being partners became a reality, and The Torres Attorneys was established in 2013.

RJ immediately embraced the role of a litigator litigation seriously, and jumped into jury trials within months of being an attorney. RJ has had tremendous success in his profession, with countless victories big and small in the courtroom. RJ continues to take educational courses and stays up late reading to expand his knowledge and training. He has completed advanced coursework through the Criminal Defense Lawyer Trial College in Huntsville, Texas, with a goal to be the best.

Part of this relentless dedication may stem from an early moment in RJ’s career. Two months after becoming licensed as an attorney, RJ took his first case to trial. He transformed the experience into motivation. It was from this first trial, RJ made a promise to himself: to do everything in his power to win. To this day, his promise holds true.

RJ has extensive legal experience in personal injury cases, family law cases, and criminal defense cases. RJ has handled many cases, from class B misdemeanors to first-degree felonies, and is now practicing federal law and appeals. RJ has proven experience in divorces, child custody and support cases, and even Child Protective Services (CPS) cases.

No matter the case, RJ’s biggest strength is arguably working with his clients. He is always there to listen and hear their side of the story, and many will tell you that he goes above and beyond to help those in need. Clients often appreciate the informational packets he gives them, as well as the fact that he sits with them in court, providing an extra bit of confidence and assurance.

RJ is known for being sympathetic and empathetic to all his clients with noted small gestures that have caught people’s attention. One court manager mentioned that she had never seen another attorney interact with his clients the way RJ does. Perhaps these little gestures are the reason clients stay in contact with RJ long after their cases are over.

Attorneys are advocates for their clients, as well as legal counselors, and RJ understands both roles well.

My mission is straight and to the point — win.
